Free League Publishing's crowdfunding campaign for The One Ring Revised has launched on Backerkit. The campaign, which was announced back in July, brings updates and improvements to the fantasy TTRPG's core rules while bringing in new material for dedicated fans.

The One Ring Revised campaign will produce three books for the award-winning fantasy TTRPG. The first is an updated version of the Core Rulebook both for the original rules system of The One Ring and Lord of the Rings Roleplaying, which adapts the world of Middle-earth to the systems and mechanics of Dungeons & Dragons.

These updated core rulebooks will contain many quality-of-life features. These include reorganized rules and reclarified text, streamlined rules for character creation, recovery, Shadow, advancement, and adventure guidance. smoother combat, and rules for Strider Mode, The One Ring's official solo mode. 

If you already own the core rulebook for The One Ring or Lord of the Rings Roleplaying, either through DrivethruRPG or on Free League Unbound, these books will automatically be updated to these new rulebooks once the campaign concludes.

The other two books in The One Ring revised are GM resources. One is an improved bestiary, Creatures Strange and Foul. The second is a prewritten campaign, The White Tower and the Hall of Gold, which takes players through Gondor and the Kingdom of Rohan. These books will also be available for The Lord of the Rings Roleplaying under the titles Of Orcs and Evil Things and Realms of the South respectively.

Since this is a crowdfunding campaign, The One Ring Revised also includes additional goodies for dedicated fans. This includes campaign-exclusive special hardcover editions of all three books, and elaborate cloth map prints of Rohan, Gondor, and Minas Tirith. In addition, if you back the campaign before September 24 at 9 AM ET, you will receive an exclusive art print at no additional cost.

The pledge levels for The One Ring Revised are as follows:

• Digital Core Rules for $25: Your choice of PDF of the Core Rulebook
• Revised Core Rules for $54: Your choice of both physical and PDF copy of the Core Rulebook and a PDF of the Starter Set
• Doorward of Meduseld for $129: Physical and digital copies of all three books for your system of choice, a Starter Set PDF, and a Standee set
• Guard of the Citadel Bundle for $219: Special Edition physical and digital copies of all three books for your system of choice, a Starter Set PDF, and a Standee set
• Warden of the Keys Bundle for $429: Special Edition physical, regular edition physical, and digital copies of all three books for your system of choice, Starter Set PDF, Standee set, GM Screen, cloth map of Rohan, Gondor, and Minas Tirith

At the time of writing, The One Ring Revised campaign has raised $1,235,834, completely burying its initial funding goal of $50,000 and overtaking its many stretch goals. The campaign concludes on October 15, 2026.
