Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will lay the foundation for the Rayalaseema horticulture hub at Madanapalle on October 2.

The Centre will provide ₹40,000 crore under the Purvodaya scheme for the project and another ₹60,000 crore is expected to come through private companies to develop the hub. The project will be implemented across the four undivided districts of Rayalaseema as well as Prakasam and Nellore districts.

The project aims to promote horticulture-related activities in drought-prone areas and strengthen the region’s agricultural economy.

The foundation stone for the Indian School of Agriculture, which will be backed by Reliance, will also be laid.
