ALVIN, TEXAS, US — RiceTec on Aug. 13 opened its new greenhouse facility in Alvin, Texas, a move the company said will help it develop solutions that address the evolving needs of rice growers around the world.

Specifically, RiceTec said the greenhouse expands its capacity to advance breeding and research initiatives, accelerate the development of new technologies, and support the company’s mission to innovate to deliver value for rice farmers.

As part of the opening event, Amitabh Mohanty, global head of R&D, emphasized the importance of collaboration, safety and scientific excellence in achieving major milestones.

RiceTec said the greenhouse strengthens its ability to deliver technologies that help farmers increase yields, improve resource efficiency and contribute to global food security. It is expected to stand as a symbol of RiceTec’s drive to push the boundaries of rice science and deliver meaningful impact for farmers, consumers and the agricultural industry, the company said.

Founded in 1988, RiceTec is the only seed company focused solely on rice. With operations in the United States, India and Mercosur (Brazil and Uruguay), RiceTec has a strong international presence and a legacy of innovation, including the commercialization of hybrid rice seed in the Americas.
