Ever traveled to the wrong place entirely? Well, if you have, you're certainly not alone. 

Olivia Garcia, from Florida, traveled to Gastonia, North Carolina, after seeing a gorgeous, snow-capped mountain landscape on TikTok. 

However, it turns out that the video posted to the internet wasn't actually Gastonia at all - it was Switzerland.  

The hilarious travel mistake, which was originally shared in 2022, recently went viral  once again on social media after the clip resurfaced on X.

Garcia was traveling in the Carolinas with her family when she came across the clip, which was posted by travel vlogger Zachary Keesee, which showed him driving through a beautiful winter wonderland.

'Gastonia, North Carolina,' the on-screen text read.

However, it turned out that the picturesque scene was not, in fact, Gastonia, and instead was footage from his trip to Lauterbrunnen, Switzerland.

But Garcia didn't realize that, and truly believed that the beautiful area was Gastonia, comparing it to that of a 'Disney movie.'

'I was like, "oh wait can we make a pit stop in this place called Gastonia because I just saw this TikTok and it looks so pretty,"' Garcia told WBTV News in an interview at the time.

'And then all of a sudden we get there, and it's just rundown gas stations - like we had to go to the bathroom and there was no bathroom that worked in any of the gas stations,' Garcia said.

Keesee told WBTV that he apologized to Garcia.

However, Garcia was not too bothered by it all, as she explained that you can't believe everything that you see online.

'I am sure there are pretty parts, so I will 100 percent go back,' Garcia said.

The mishap went so viral that it even caught the attention of Gastonia's mayor at the time, Walker E. Reid, III.

'Apparently we are the Talk of the Town! And while Gastonia is certainly not Switzerland, we're glad people are learning more about our Great City,' Reid said at the time, per WBTV. 

'We're glad to see so many people having fun with Zachary Keesee's post and hopefully Ms. Garcia will come back to see all the great things our city has to offer,' he continued.

'In fact, if they want to contact me, I’d love to give them a personal tour and show them what makes our City tick!' Reid said. 

The video recently made its rounds as journalist Yashar Ali re-posted the clip on his X page.

'As someone who lives in NC - how can you not tell, by a very quick look at any map, that Gastonia most likely doesn't have snow-capped mountains?' one X user wrote in response.

Another agreed, 'Nowhere in the US looks like the Swiss Alps.'

'That makes no sense. How can somebody be that absolutely clueless?' someone else typed.
