Walt Disney World fans have been left heartbroken after the theme park announced that one of its beloved rides will be closing for a lengthy period of time.

It was revealed this week that Tiana's Bayou Adventure at Magic Kingdom in Orlando, Florida, will shut down this winter for a 'routine refurbishment.'

The popular log flume is set to reopen sometime in December, however, the exact date was not shared.

The news comes two months after the same attraction over at Disneyland in Anaheim, California, sparked safety concerns after a boy climbed out of the ride vehicle mid-ride and plunged down a 50-foot drop.

Back in June, a 13-year-old boy riding the log flume at Disneyland exited one of the boats in the middle of the ride and plummeted down the big hill.

Video footage published by TMZ appeared to show the boy falling down the track behind the ride vehicle full of other people.

Thankfully, the boy did not suffer any critical injuries and was transferred to a hospital as a 'precaution.' He was evaluated and released.

California Division of Occupational Safety and Health, better known as Cal/OSHA, inspected the attraction afterwards and approved it to open the following day.

The log flume at Disneyland does not have seatbelts or lap bars, while the one at Disney World has a lap bar but no seatbelt.

After news of the scary event broke, many social media users raised questions about the minimal restraints.

In the wake of the incident, Disneyland added 12 new signs around the attraction, with most positioned in the queues, warning riders that if they stand up during the ride they 'will' be removed from the park.

That marked a subtle but significant change from the wording on earlier signs, which said guests who stood up 'may' be removed. 

The ride, which replaced the attraction Splash Mountain and opened in June 2024, is inspired by the movie The Princess and the Frog and described as 'an exhilarating musical adventure.'

'Embark on a thrilling water ride through the bayou with Princess Tiana, Mama Odie and gator pal Louis,' reads a description.

'It's a musical journey full of twists, turns and festive fun that crescendos with a 50-foot drop - as well as a swingin' soiree.'

It has unfortunately faced many problems since it first opened, ranging from broken animatronics to constant delays.

Fans were divided over the news of the upcoming closure on X. Some rejoiced, pointing out it may ultimately lead to a better ride experience, while others shared their disappointment.

'They need to fix all the issues. At the very least make the animatronics work and not look like they’re spazzing,' one user wrote.

'Tiana is the worst of the worst. I’ve never seen it fully operational,' someone else chimed in. 

'I hope it’s a lengthy rehab and they take the time to fix all of the issues,' added another Disney fan. 

'Lord knows it needs it,' a different person joked.

'It barely even works,' read a fifth post, while a sixth said: 'It's about time.'

'Let's sell all the Christmas tickets then announce the refurbishment,' one outraged fan sarcastically wrote. 

'Great. Finally going back after three years on November 30 and it’s gonna be down. Last time I was there it was still under construction. Pain,' scathed someone else.

'Busiest time of the year, great time to close it... WTF,' a different user penned.

Last month, the ride came under fire after a guest noticed that one of its props was being held together with duct tape. 

X user @CoasterK24 took to the platform to share their outrage after they saw that a decoration on the line for Tiana's Bayou Adventure was covered in the adhesive tape. 

They shared a snap of a fake car in the queue area for the boat ride, which had a slew of large and very noticeable pieces of tape along the edges. 

The queue is designed to completely immerse guests in the universe; as they wait for the ride, they are transported into old-school Louisiana, where they get a walk through the headquarters for Tiana's new business, Tiana's Foods.

The X user claimed the use of duct tape completely ruined the ambiance, pointing out that The Princess and the Frog takes place in the 1920s, before duct tape was even invented. 

'Tiana's Bayou Adventure is literally being held together with duct tape, which mind you was not invented during the time period this ride takes place in,' they raged. 

The post sparked immense fury for the theme park, as many others agreed that it was not fitting.
