Christina Ricci says her 12-year-old son knows how to respond if a group chat contains something like the alleged invitations to sexual assault described in the Cornell University lawsuit. She also told him to use his position in the world to protect other people.
“Had the conversation with my 12 year old son last night,” Ricci wrote on Instagram Stories. “He knows exactly what to do if he EVER gets sent anything like that on a group chat or anywhere else. He also knows that he’s to use his size, gender and priveledge in this world to protect others.”

The 46-year-old actress shares her son, Freddie, with her ex-husband, James Heerdegen.

She alleges that, at 20, she was given alcohol and drugs until she was intoxicated, and that men used a Snapchat group chat to invite others to participate in the assault. The group reportedly included more than 50 men.
That alleged chat is also central to Florence Pugh’s response. In an Instagram post, she wrote: “Every single person who knew or heard about this happening, should be looked at with serious concern. They are as evil as those planning it.”
The lawsuit alleges Cornell gave the accused men “the opportunity to mitigate their conduct by submitting essays to Cornell.” Cornell disputes the suggestion that its punishments lacked consequences, saying it imposed “a range of sanctions, which included expulsions and suspensions from Cornell.”
The university says Chi Phi was closed in 2024 and remains barred from campus. New York state prosecutors have reopened an investigation into the case.
