As Nov. 3, 2026, draws closer by the day, Republicans are showing that they are desperate. None more so than Donald Trump.

At a Trump-organized rally in Dallas, Texas — billed as a convention — Trump made several ludicrous statements. Many were repetitions of falsehoods and outright lies. One, in particular, was a stunner: Trump offered a $5,000 bribe to every American if Republicans maintain control of Congress after the midterm elections.

Details of how it will be accomplished and who (Trump is notoriously cheap) will pay out the nearly $1 trillion that would be required from a nation already $30 trillion in debt are as vague as most of his boasts.

Holding this so-called “convention” was an act of desperation by a man who has proven his willingness to do or say anything to avoid repercussions that are certain to result from his numerous bad acts.
