Actor Chad Lowe and producer Kim Painter have announced that their daughter, Fiona Hepler Lowe, has died at age 13.
In a statement shared with People on Sept. 29, the Lowe family said, "We are deeply heartbroken by the loss of our beloved Fiona." They remembered Fiona as "a loving young girl who was smart, creative, and loved to dance," adding: "She was adored by her sisters and she was deeply loved by her parents. In fact, she was the light of our lives."
The statement concluded: "Her passing is devastating for our entire family and we ask for prayers and privacy at this time. If you or someone you know is struggling with mental health, please reach out to the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline by calling or texting 988."
Chad — who is the younger brother of Rob Lowe — and Kim married in 2010. Fiona was the middle of their three daughters. Their oldest daughter, Mabel Painter, is 17, and their youngest, Nixie Barbara, is 10.
In November 2025, Chad celebrated Fiona's 13th birthday on Instagram. Alongside a sweet photo, Chad wrote: "Celebrating Fiona officially becoming a teen today!! Keep dancing through life FiBear! Love you soooo much!!"
Fiona's death comes less than two years after the Lowe family tragically lost their home in the Pacific Palisades fire in early 2025. In February that year, Chad shared a heartbreaking Instagram post showing his three daughters visiting the remains of their childhood home. "Almost a month after we evacuated our girls finally got to go back to see what’s left of their home," he wrote on the caption. "The way they’ve handled this whole devastating experience is nothing short of remarkable. I am in awe of their spirit and resilience. Helping them navigate these tough times is my sole purpose. Being their dad is my life’s greatest joy and privilege."
At this time, the family has not shared any further details about Fiona's passing. We're sending them all the love and support.
