Qualcomm Technologies has officially unveiled its new mobile lineup, introducing both the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and the higher-tier Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 to power the next generation of smartphones. The announcement marks a strategic shift for the chipmaker toward a dual-flagship approach, giving device manufacturers greater flexibility in scaling advanced on-device intelligence and performance across top-tier tiers.

“Today marks a milestone as we introduce not one, but two new flagship mobile platforms, delivering agentic AI experiences that are immediate, personal, and adaptive,” said Chris Patrick, senior vice president and general manager of mobile handsets at Qualcomm Technologies, in the Qualcomm press release.
Devices powered by both platforms will debut in upcoming flagship smartphones from major global brands, including Honor, iQOO, Motorola, Nubia, OnePlus, OPPO, REDMI, RedMagic, vivo, Xiaomi, and ZTE.
The core strategy behind this launch is segmentation without compromise. Both platforms are built on an advanced 2nm process node and feature Qualcomm’s custom-built Oryon CPU with prime cores running up to 5.0GHz, paired with UFS 5.0 storage support and LP-DDR5x/6 memory up to 24 GB. However, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 pushes performance ceilings higher for the most demanding flagship devices, incorporating 50% larger shared memory, support for 30B+ parameter Mixture of Experts models, and dedicated Adreno matrix cores.
Reengineered Hexagon NPUAt the heart of both platforms is a reengineered Qualcomm Hexagon NPU designed to support persistent, proactive agentic AI that learns routines and preferences directly on the device without constant prompting. The Extreme variant features the new Element Accelerator and deeper contextual understanding, while the standard Gen 6 delivers a 14% boost in NPU performance alongside a 20% improvement in performance-per-watt, enabling instant document analysis, zero-prompt photo editing, and personalized workflow automation.
The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Gaming and Visual Upgrades
Mobile gaming and graphics receive substantial upgrades across the entire lineup. The standard Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 delivers a 35% improvement in GPU performance with a 40% gain in power efficiency over its predecessor. Meanwhile, the Extreme tier introduces Adreno Neural Fusion, which leverages dedicated AI matrix cores to run advanced models, reducing GPU workloads while delivering supercharged console-level graphics, ray tracing with Lumen Global Illumination, and higher sustained frame rates.
Cinema-Grade Camera and VideoThe Qualcomm Spectra ISP powers advanced imaging capabilities across both chips. The platforms support up to 64MP triple cameras or 108MP single cameras with zero shutter lag, alongside photo capture up to 320MP. Video capabilities include 8K video capture at 60 FPS on the Extreme tier and 30 FPS on the standard Gen 6, alongside Advanced Professional Video (APV) codec support for professional-grade shooting and editing directly on the handset. Intelligent Pixel Control and Motion Intelligence ensure sharp, stabilized footage in challenging lighting conditions.
Next-Generation Connectivity
Motorola signature 27 coming with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6Connectivity serves as a foundational pillar for both platforms. The integrated Qualcomm X105 5G Modem-RF system is the industry’s first 3GPP Release 19-ready architecture, paving the road to 6G with peak download speeds reaching up to 14.8 Gbps and upload speeds up to 4.2 Gbps. The modem also includes fully integrated non-terrestrial network (NTN) support for satellite voice, video, and messaging coverage anywhere in the world.
FastConnect 8800 and Wi-Fi 8Complementing cellular connectivity, the Qualcomm FastConnect 8800 Mobile Connectivity System brings peak Wi-Fi speeds up to 11.6 Gbps. Utilizing a redesigned 4×4 system architecture, it delivers double the peak speeds and up to three times longer gigabit range compared to previous generations, while adding support for Wi-Fi 8, Bluetooth 6.0, Ultra Wideband, and Thread standards.
Key SpecsQualcomm has not published direct consumer pricing for the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 platforms, as mobile processors are sold directly to hardware manufacturers. Flagship smartphones powered by both platforms are scheduled to debut from leading global brands including Honor, iQOO, Motorola, Nubia, OnePlus, OPPO, REDMI, RedMagic, vivo, Xiaomi, and ZTE.
Key Highlights
With the introduction of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and its Extreme counterpart, Qualcomm is setting a high bar for what mobile silicon can achieve in an era defined by agentic AI. By splitting its flagship tier into two robust options built on a 2nm process, the company is giving manufacturers the flexibility to scale everything from 5.0GHz Oryon performance and Adreno Neural Fusion gaming to satellite-connected 5G across a broader range of premium devices. For consumers, these platforms promise a tangible leap in how smartphones anticipate needs, capture media, and maintain connectivity without sacrificing battery life.
