UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Institute of Energy and the Environment (IEE) is accepting nominations for its annual research award program. The awards recognize Penn State researchers whose accomplishments advance interdisciplinary research and address critical energy and environmental challenges. Nominations may highlight accomplishments in research, mentorship, public impact or other areas that contribute to IEE’s mission.
IEE welcomes and encourages both self-nominations and nominations of colleagues. Tenure-line and non-tenure-line faculty at any Penn State campus are eligible. Selected individuals or teams will each receive $5,000 in discretionary research funds. The nomination deadline is Friday, Nov. 20.
Now in its fourth year, the IEE Research Awards recognize accomplishments connected to IEE’s five strategic themes: Climate and Natural Systems, Health and the Environment, Integrated Energy Systems, Equitable Communities and the Built Environment, and Water Sustainability.
Nominees may demonstrate excellence through research advances, mentorship and interdisciplinary collaboration, or public engagement. Examples include significant publications or scientific advances, cross-disciplinary mentoring and research partnerships, and media coverage, community programs or other outreach.
These examples are not intended to limit the types of accomplishments that may be recognized. Nominations should highlight meaningful contributions to energy and environmental research, interdisciplinary collaboration, mentorship or public engagement.
Full details about nomination packet requirements are available on the IEE website.
