A beautiful prayer written in memory of the author's mother
The post A Yahrtzeit Prayer first appeared on Ritualwell.
Boreinu shebashamayim, our Creator who is in Heaven, please grant me the strength to honor my loved one this yahrtzeit, this anniversary of their passing from this world.
May my loved one find peace in your Eternal Presence, even as I mourn their absence here on earth.
When a beloved person departs this world, grief never ends, it evolves. May Hakdoshah Bruchah Hi, the Holy One Blessed be She, help me find the words to be kind, to be gentle to myself and to others as I mark such a painful moment in my life.
May Bore Haolam, the Creator of the World, help me utter kaddish even when I feel it too hard to speak its words.
O God and God of our ancestors, send my love to my loved one, that they may feel my heart’s purposeful push towards them, even as I wish I could hold them once more.
Kaddish yatom. The mourner’s kaddish. It is a mark of time. It is a way to honor the past and build a beautiful present in the name of those we cherish.
Amen.
In honor of my mother Benita Marcus z”l, Brachah Shlomit bat Avraham Yitzchak ve’Mirl Ester
