One star from UK entrant Remember Monday was left fighting tears live on-air on Thursday after some very special guests wished her luck for the Eurovision final this weekend.

The British country pop band, made up of Lauren Byrne, Holly-Anne Hull and Charlotte Steele, all 30, appeared live on Good Morning Britain today ahead of the Grand Final on Saturday night.

The ITV breakfast news show's Richard Arnold headed to Basel in Switzerland, where the 69th iteration of the annual continental music competition will take place.

During a live interview with the band, the presenter surprised bandmate Charlotte with a heartwarming video to give her confidence for the big night.

Charlotte was the deputy head of a sixth form before all the bandmates quit their jobs to pursue music full-time around 18 months ago.

Richard took the opportunity to show her a video of her ex-students singing the band's original Eurovision song What The Hell Just Happened? in a choir.

Elsewhere in the Good Morning Britain interview, the performers (pictured earlier this week) confessed they were feeling nervous before the big day

He said halfway through the live interview: 'Charlotte, we've got a special message for you.'

The singer responded: 'I was a deputy head of a sixth form and they are like my second family, they're amazing!'

The host then replied: 'Well, if you look at this, I think you'll feel that they feel the same.'

Charlotte watched the video in absolute shock, speechless as she fought back tears and placed her hand on her chest, overwhelmed by emotion.

She said after watching the clip: 'Oh, I love them, look at them! I hope that I inspire them by doing this.'

Her bandmate Holly-Anne reassured her, 'You do', before Charlotte continued: 'It's such a big change and I love them.'

Elsewhere in the Good Morning Britain interview, the performers confessed they were feeling nervous before the big day: 'Today is the first time we've felt a little bit anxious because it's real now!'

The band get an automatic place in Saturday's final, as the UK is one of the five biggest financial contributors to Eurovision, along with France, Spain, Germany and Italy.

Remember Monday, whose name comes from their meet-ups to rehearse on Mondays when they formed the band at school in Farnborough, Hampshire, first gained prominence after appearing on The Voice UK in 2019.

They will be the first girl group to represent the UK at Eurovision in more than 25 years.

The first semi-final, which took place on Tuesday, saw ten of 15 contestants make it to the Grand Final.

Norway, Albania, Sweden, Iceland, the Netherlands, Poland, San Marino, Estonia, Portugal and Ukraine all made it - while Slovenia, Belgium, Azerbaijan, Croatia and Cyprus all sadly went home.

Tonight's semi-final will see the countries yet to compete go head-to-head: Australia, Montenegro, Ireland, Latvia, Armenia, Austria, Greece, Lithuania, Malta, Georgia, Denmark, the Czech Republic, Luxembourg, Israel, Serbia and Finland.

Eurovision will be available to watch on BBC One and to stream on BBC iPlayer, with the second semi-final at 8pm tonight and the Grand Final at 8pm on Saturday.
