Kinda interesting supernatural mystery story. Peter Grant is a rookie police constable in London. After interviewing a witness to a bizarre murder who is revealed to be a ghost, he is ushered into the secret world of magic policing (having proven he has “the gift.”).

Tied up in the string-of-murders mystery (which turns out to be related to the ghost of a disgruntled actor reenacting Punch), Peter tries to adjudicate a dispute between two supernatural guardians of the river, Mother Thames (currently manifesting as a Nigerian woman) and Father Thames (a Gaelic Traveler man) and their tributary “children.”
