Battlefield 6! Valor Mortis! Bluey!

Microsoft has revealed the first batch of games coming to Xbox Game Pass this month, though subscribers only have a week left to try the award-winning Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 before it waves goodbye.

• Echo Weaver (Cloud, Xbox Series X/S, and PC) – 8th October on Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass

October's undisputed headliner is one of last year's hottest games, EA's Battlefield 6. The large-scale shooter broke series records when it dropped, selling over 7m copies in three days and instantly topping Steam's best-seller charts. Post-launch updates and a surprisingly-involved Top Gun collab have kept the game chugging into this year too, despite layoffs at Battlefield Studios back in March.

The other highlights include seven all-new games launching into Game Pass straight away. Time-loop metroidvania Echo Weaver, road trip adventure game Forever Ago, co-op survive-em-up Deep Dish Dungeon, first-person soulslike Valor Mortis, cute photography romp Bluey's Happy Snaps, co-op roguelike Chained Beast, and city-builder (on the back of a space whale) Beyond These Stars slot into the service on the same day as their full launches.

But Game Pass giveth and Game Pass taketh away. This month's group of leavers include the widely-acclaimed and hugely-celebrated RPG, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, which debuted on Game Pass early last year. Some personal favorites, like Donut County and Pacific Drive, aren't sticking around either.

• A Plague Tale: Requiem (Cloud, Console, and PC)
• Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 (Cloud, Console, and PC)
• Crime Scene Cleaner (Cloud, Console, and PC)
• Donut County (Cloud, Console, and PC)
• Evil West (Cloud, Console, and PC)
• Nova Roma (Game Preview) (PC)
• Pacific Drive (Cloud, Console, and PC)
• Superball (Cloud, Console, and PC)
• The Casting of Frank Stone (Cloud, Console, and PC)

I have one eyebrow tentatively raised for Deep Dish Dungeon's moody, old-school world, if I can fend off the hordes in Gears of War: E-Day for long enough, that is - are you guys interested in any of the newcomers?
