Two new books of old and current work by Seymour Chwast will be posted and hosted at Poster House on Oct. 24.

During his 95 years, Seymour Chwast has illustrated or authored and illustrated 40 books for children. They flow out of him like a soft-serve ice cream machine. He continues to pump out at least one proposal a week, including writing or visually interpreting his works through typographic illustration and expressive drawings. The Picture Book Book: The Art of Seymour Chwast by Steven Heller (that’s me) is the first major bibliographic revue of this output. Some of them have been republished, and others are rare. But hearing Chwast discuss his work. made for the child inside himself is as yet unheard of. Until Oct. 24, that is, when he and I will converse about some of his 40 volumes … and, if lucky, the 41st that was left out of the book.

Please join us for a night of kidding around with picture books. Discover Chwast’s ongoing passion and take in Poster House‘s galleries and bookstore, where a few of his classic kid’s book are available for browsing, signing and sale.

Seymour Chwast: The Works, edited by me, will also be on hand.
