Norwegians know a thing or two about harsh winters.

Newborns sleep train in sub-zero temperatures. Not long after, they grow up reciting a famous proverb, Det finnes ikke dårlig vær, bare dårlig klær.

Translation: there’s no bad weather, only bad clothing. Red Wing wants to remind you to consider your boots, as well.

The new Norway Moc is the company’s latest addition to its Heritage lineup comprising its most iconic silhouettes.

From afar, it’s effectively a rugged rework of its legendary 6-inch shop boot, the Classic Moc.

The front features the same signature toebox that made its predecessor one of the world’s most recognizable work boots.

That said, Red Wing swapped out the Traction Tred outsoles for one fashioned out of Vibram Fire & Ice Lug, upping the durability and traction for winter’s worst.

The upper also debuts a new Red Wing leather: Scotch-grain-embossed Copper Rough & Tough.

It pairs with a canvas liner, padded collar, Norwegian-style storm welt and felted-wool footbed to create a boot with better warmth and moisture regulation than any other style in the Heritage catalog.

Despite the name, the Norway Moc hails from the same Midwestern factory floors as its famous brethren.

“The Norway Moc isn’t a Scandinavian-inspired boot,” said Amy Peck, vice president of product innovation at Red Wing, in a press release. “It’s a Minnesotan boot built for Norwegian winters.

“It’s designed for the realities of life in cold climates and built by people who understand what winter demands.”

At launch, the Norway Moc is available in a single width, Regular (D).

It’s built on the same 45 last as the Classic Moc in Copper Rough & Tough Leather; the other Classic Moc boots use the 23 last.

The Norway Moc costs $370, putting it on par with the Logger as one of the more premium boots in the Heritage lineup.
