G-Shock watches can do a great many things, from diving deep into the ocean to surviving a fall from the top of a three-story building.
But in the most pedestrian of situations, they often fail at their most basic function: telling time.
Traditional G-Shock screens can score well below par when it comes to legibility, especially at an angle and especially outdoors. Glare is a B-I-T-C-H.
Hence the hype around the brand’s memory-in-pixel (MIP) LCD screen, only recently made available on the 5600 series.
G-Shock’s memore-in-pixel (MIP) LCD display results in crisper, brighter text that’s easier to read outdoors.G-ShockNow the feature moves beyond the brand’s original square-case watch, arriving on the Mudman for the very first time.
The GDG-B100 is only the third Master of G model, and the first Mudman, to get MIP.G-ShockThe GDG-B100 is only the third Master of G series watch to receive the upgrade, which results in brighter, crisper text and numbers that are easier to read at both an angle and in direct sunlight.
The watch also features a red backlight to “preserve the eyes’ natural adaptation to the dark,” G-Shock says.

The Mudman is G-Shock’s land-focused survival watch, built to take on dirt, sand and, of course, mud.G-ShockIn terms of case design, the GDG-B100 follows the angular form factor of the GBD200 first released in 2021.
According to the brand, the watch’s case structure takes after 4×4 off-road vehicles.G-Shock
Otherwise, the geometry of the case follows that of the GBD200 first released in 2021.G-ShockHowever, accentuated bumper guards that Casio says take after the geometry of 4×4 off-road vehicles result in a watch built to withstand virtually any condition you throw at it.
The model comes in three strap configurations, including black, yellow and dark green.G-ShockPricing and availabilityThe GDG-B100 has yet to land stateside. However, it’s already available in G-Shock’s native Japan and starting to trickle into other markets.
It comes in three strap variations, each with the same dark resin case: black (GDG-B100-1), green (GDG-B100-1A3) and mustard yellow (GDG-B100-1A5).
Overseas listings suggest a US price tag of around $265.
