NEW YORK, October 14. /TASS/. The US will face a new Great Depression if the Democrats win the midterm elections to Congress in November, US leader Donald Trump said.

"If the Democrats win, you will have a 1929-style economic depression," he said, speaking to supporters in Alaska. "If the Republicans win, you will each receive $5,000 in your pocket and economic success for our country, the likes of which we have never seen before," Trump added.

The Great Depression was a worldwide economic downturn that began in 1929 with the stock market crash in the United States and lasted until about 1939. Industrial cities were hit the hardest, construction almost came to a halt, agricultural prices plummeted, while unemployment affected 14 mln people in the US.
