Four year-old Swsh reached out with word of the multimillion-dollar raise – and plans for an expansion beyond music – today. Co-founded and led by Alexandra Debow, the startup bills itself as an events-geared digital hub through which diehards can celebrate shows with customizable photo albums.
And in Swsh’s own words, this central offering “turns live-event fan chaos into a powerful, owned asset” by affording superfans “searchable shared albums and community magic.”
Regarding this searchability, when one uploads “a selfie onto swsh we use AI facial recognition to find photos” of the same individual, per the appropriate FAQ section.
On the opposite side of the equation, brands are said to “unlock thousands of viral-ready clips, rich audience data, sponsor insights, and high-intent lead gen.”
Elaborating on the ideas in a statement, Debow touted Swsh’s perceived ability to produce actionable data pertaining to proven superfans.“Today, brands, artists, teams, and agencies rely heavily on live experiences to generate some of the most powerful audience engagement in culture, yet they often leave events without structured insight into who participated or what resonated,” said Debow.
“swsh solves this gap by transforming fan-captured content into shared albums organizations own—unlocking both scalable content libraries and first-party engagement data,” the Thiel Fellow continued.
“Fans are already documenting everything that happens at concerts, games, and brand activations. swsh turns those moments into measurable data, while strengthening the communities of superfans around the experiences they care about most,” Debow finished.
Returning to the seed funding – what’s worse than reading about a raise before knowing what the company actually does? – New York-based Game Changers Ventures led the round.Meanwhile, Indify investor Stellation Capital, Clubhouse stakeholder SignalFire, and Gimlet backer MaC Venture Capital participated.
So did angels, besides those mentioned at the outset, including Z Fellows founder Cory Levy; Notable Capital’s Hans Tung; Chris Detert (an exec with influencer marketing specialist Influential); ex-Meta higher-up Shachar Scott; and Morning Brew’s Austin Rief.
As for what comes next, after adding “[a] record number of users” last month, Swsh is preparing to build out its team and continue upgrading its core product while simultaneously expanding “into adjacent sectors where live participation is equally valuable.”
Among these target sectors are sports as well as “brand and experiential agencies managing large-scale activation portfolios,” according to the business.Furthermore, Game Changers managing partner Roger Ehrenberg touched on the expectation that Swsh will stand out by capitalizing on authentic UGC as opposed to an endless stream of AI clips.
“Live experiences are becoming one of the most important environments for understanding audiences,” said Ehrenberg.
“As organizations shift toward first-party audience relationships and participation-driven engagement strategies, swsh is the infrastructure for capturing the moments that define live culture. In a world of infinite AI-generated content, real human UGC will stand out and outperform,” the Miami Marlins minority owner concluded.
