BALTIMORE (VINnews) – The Coalition for Jewish Values on Tuesday hailed Tucker Carlson’s declared departure from the Republican Party as a positive development for the GOP, the nation and the principles of representative government, tolerance and peace.

In a strongly worded statement, the Orthodox Jewish advocacy group argued that Carlson, not Israel, America or the Republican Party, has changed course. The organization contrasted the party’s firm stance against antisemitism with what it described as Carlson’s shift toward darker populist grievances.

“Despite his statements, it is not Israel, America, or the Republican Party that has changed, but Carlson himself,” the statement said. “Israel was attacked by genocidal enemies thirty years ago, responded with force in order to restore peace, and Americans, especially American conservatives, supported Israel in that fight. Carlson’s own past criticism of politicians obsessed with ‘needling the Jews’ applies with equal force to who Carlson has become today.”

The Coalition pointed to what it called a parallel danger on the political right, citing figures including Carlson, Candace Owens and Nick Fuentes. It specifically criticized Heritage Foundation President Kevin Roberts for aligning with Carlson and downplaying concerns from his critics.

For decades, the group said, mainstream Democrats had tolerated rising antisemitic extremism on their progressive wing, exemplified by members of Congress Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib, as well as New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani. Republicans, by contrast, chose to draw a firm line, the statement said.

“The Republican Party made a different choice, and it is Carlson himself who, along with President Trump, has made this clear,” the Coalition declared. “Republicans refused to let antisemitism become a tolerated faction within their ranks, and reaffirmed that support for Israel, opposition to terrorism, and the fight against Jew-hatred are non-negotiable.”

The statement portrayed Carlson’s exit as a victory for principle over grievance.

“Tucker Carlson wanted to take the Republican Party down a different and much darker road. He failed,” it said. “Republicans chose principle over populist grievance, America’s allies over its enemies, and moral clarity over moral confusion. Carlson’s departure tells us that the American political system still has a place for those who value American civilization. For this, we are grateful.”

The Coalition for Jewish Values is a leading voice representing traditional Orthodox Jewish perspectives on public policy issues, particularly regarding Israel, antisemitism and religious liberty. Carlson, a prominent conservative commentator and former Fox News host, has increasingly criticized U.S. support for Israel and the Republican establishment in recent years.
