“It’s an incredible biblical site. It’s just an amazing place to be,” Huckabee said. “Just when you think you’ve seen everything there is in Israel to see, something else comes up and you realize you can never exhaust the extraordinary history of this amazing land.”
Huckabee said he intends to encourage Trump to include the sites in any future visit.
“Trump should come, shouldn’t he? I’m going to encourage him,” Huckabee said. “I probably will see him next week in Washington and I’ll tell him if he doesn’t come, he’s missing something spectacular.”
The ambassador’s remarks highlight efforts to highlight Jewish historical ties to Judea and Samaria, areas central to biblical narratives and often at the heart of diplomatic discussions regarding Israeli settlements and security.
