In comments that highlighted both the strength of their partnership and occasional policy disagreements, Trump recounted urging Netanyahu to exercise restraint amid Israel’s military operations against the Iran-backed terrorist group.

“I said, you can do a little softer touch, Bibi. You don’t have to knock down a building every time somebody walks into it,” Trump said, according to the remarks.

Trump described Netanyahu as a strong partner but noted differences over the intensity of Israel’s responses to threats from Hezbollah. Despite those divergences, he emphasized that the U.S.-Israel alliance remains robust.

The comments come against the backdrop of ongoing tensions along Israel’s northern border, where Israeli forces have conducted strikes against Hezbollah infrastructure and operatives following repeated attacks on Israeli communities.
