TEL AVIV  (VINnews) – The Israeli Airports Authority plans to reopen Ben Gurion Airport’s Terminal 1 on June 28 for domestic flights and on July 1 for international arrivals and departures, aiming to accommodate surging passenger traffic during the peak summer travel season.

Terminal 1, which primarily serves low-cost and budget airlines, has been closed since Feb. 28, when Israel shut its airspace to foreign carriers at the outset of fighting with Iran. Since then, all domestic and international flights have operated exclusively from Terminal 3.

The phased reopening is expected to ease congestion and improve service for travelers as summer demand increases. Terminal 1’s return will allow budget carriers to resume operations, offering more options for both domestic and international routes.
