EastEnders actor Thomas Law first graced Albert Square as Peter Beale back in 2006, departing four years later in 2010. Much to fans' delight, he made a triumphant return to the role in 2023.
Walford stalwart Peter has been a fixture on EastEnders for a remarkable 33 years since the character's initial introduction. Making his first appearance in 1993 as the son of Ian (played by Adam Woodyatt) and Cindy (played by Michelle Collins), Peter is the twin brother of his late sister, Lucy Beale.
Throughout the last three decades, Peter has been caught up in numerous explosive storylines, not least Cindy's jaw-dropping comeback after a quarter of a century, despite her character supposedly being written out permanently.
In a huge DNA twist, Peter also discovered he had two additional half-sisters, Gina and Anna Knight (portrayed by Francesca Henry and Molly Rainford), following revelations that Cindy had another clandestine family while married to George (Colin Salmon), reports the Mirror.
In recent scenes, Peter was devastated when his newborn son Jimmy, whom he shares with his spouse Lauren (Jacqueline Jossa), was diagnosed as severely sight-impaired.
He has also weathered the storm of his mother's romance with his father-in-law, Max Branning (Jake Wood), while his own father, Ian, faces potential imprisonment after injuring Jordan Fox in a hit-and-run incident.
Peter is a familiar face around the market, managing the legendary fruit and veg stall following Martin Fowler's (James Bye) passing, proving that life as a Beale has always been far from plain sailing.
Hailing from Hertfordshire, Thomas, 33, was raised in Potters Bar alongside his parents and two older sisters. His breakthrough came in 2006 when he secured the part of Peter Beale in EastEnders.
Nevertheless, he departed the BBC drama in 2010, with Ben Hardy assuming the character from 2013 to 2015, before Dayle Hudson took on the mantle for a two-year stint in 2020.
Throughout his break from the programme, Thomas maintained his acting career, featuring in multiple ITV productions, notably portraying DC Eddie Martin in The Bay between 2021 and 2023.
His credits also include a stint on Casualty in 2014, and he has also starred in movies, including Unhallowed Ground (2015), Framed (2021), and Last Train to Christmas (2021).
Thomas prefers to maintain privacy around his romantic relationships. Nevertheless, in 2024, reports emerged linking him to camera assistant Tylor Jane.
The pair were spotted looking loved-up during an outing to Whipsnade Zoo in Dunstable. She tagged Thomas in the snap and included a red love heart.
His previous romantic connections include former EastEnders colleague Madeline Duggan, who portrayed Lauren Branning, and Hollywood star and vocalist Sofia Carson, his co-star in the 2016 American film 'A Cinderella Story: If the Shoe Fits'.
Sofia has also appeared in Netflix's Purple Hearts and Disney's Descendants, and is a singer/songwriter.
Despite his absence, Thomas stayed connected to EastEnders through his mother and sister, who both work on the production. At a past media gathering, he offered a heartwarming insight into his family's involvement with the programme and their roles behind the camera.
Thomas revealed: "I was filming another job at the time, so keeping it a secret was OK, as I couldn't tell anyone I was working with there. When you're working on these jobs, you don't really get to socialise much anyway."
He went on to reveal: "My mum and sister both work at EastEnders, so they found out two weeks into me knowing as they heard a few whispers which they, of course, had to keep a secret too."
