England have stormed into the FIFA World Cup semi-finals with captain Harry Kane proving instrumental in the team's success. Ahead of the clash against Argentina on Wednesday, July 15, the striker has matched Jude Bellingham with a total of six goals during the tournament.

Certain foods are vital to Kane's performance on the pitch. Ahead of the next major deciding match this week, we've found the dishes he's reportedly quite fond of - and the work that has gone into handcrafting his diet.

As reported by The Standard, the England captain keeps things fairly simple but has gone beyond his club's top-level support, hiring his own private chef. Kane told the publication that he has been working alongside chef and qualified nutritionist Dan Sargeant "for about eight or nine years".

The dad-of-four said: "Over the years, we have continuously researched and fine-tuned the dietary aspects, striving to make breakthroughs in every small detail. Since working with him, I've seen significant improvements in my physical condition and on-field performance. He usually selects and prepares high-quality ingredients, and then my family and I cook them in the kitchen."

To start the day, Kane reportedly often cooks breakfast with his children, and the choices are diverse. One meal includes toasted whole-wheat bread, eggs, and a spinach omelette, while another option could be coconut yoghurt with mixed berries, homemade granola, and a little honey.

He said that breakfast choices depend entirely on the day's training intensity, adding: "Before training, I usually have a good idea of the session's intensity and adjust my calorie and carbohydrate intake accordingly. If we have a match, I start 'carb-loading' from Friday morning's breakfast, continuing until before the match to fuel the body properly."

Eggs are an outstanding source of protein, with up to seven grams per large egg, making a combination a true protein powerhouse. They are also rich in vitamins A, D, and B12, along with choline, a nutrient that plays a vital role in many metabolic processes.

According to Healthline, adding spinach to his eggs boosts the nutrient-dense meal to another level. The leafy green is packed with vitamins A, C, and K1, as well as iron, folate, and calcium.

It also contains natural nitrates, which have been shown to help lower blood pressure and improve circulation. On days when he decides to alternate, his coconut yoghurt may help provide those goal-scoring energy bursts on match days.

It is rich in healthy fats called MCTs (medium-chain triglycerides), which the body burns quickly for pure energy. Berries help to avoid sudden spikes in your blood sugar, and honey does more than just add natural sweetness. Studies show honey actually helps probiotics, like those found in the coconut yoghurt, survive in your gut, so they can do their job better.
