MMB Volum-e, a European additive manufacturing service provider with a strong focus on space and other regulated industries, has signed a three-year contract with amsight to roll out its data-driven quality management software across its metal AM operations.

The decision follows an extensive trial and evaluation phase in live production, during which MMB Volum-e assessed amsight’s ability to integrate powder, machine, post-processing, and inspection data into a single source of truth. Based on the results, MMB Volum-e has selected amsight as its central software solution for managing and proving part quality across the entire additive manufacturing production chain.

amsight is now fully live and in productive use at MMB Volum-e, covering the complete metal AM process chain – from raw material and machine data to post-processing and final inspection. The implementation specifically supports MMB Volum-e’s fleet of 10 metal Laser Powder Bed Fusion (L-PBF) systems from EOS, enabling consistent and scalable quality management across multiple systems.

By consolidating production, machine, and quality data in one software, MMB Volum-e gains full transparency over its AM processes and can efficiently demonstrate part conformity against demanding customer and space-industry specifications. Instead of relying on spreadsheets and scattered log files, the company now works with structured, searchable data that underpins both day-to-day quality assurance and long-term process improvement.

“After a thorough evaluation period, we selected amsight as our long-term software partner because of the company’s ability to provide end-to-end traceability and structured, data-driven quality evidence across our complete AM process chain – a critical requirement for space applications,” said Eric Baustert, Innovation Director at MMB Volum-e. “Having our powder, process, and inspection data in one place gives us a much stronger basis for qualification, audits, and continuous improvement.”

The implementation supports MMB Volum-e’s strategic focus on the space and highly-regulated industries, where stringent documentation, reproducibility, and traceability requirements are essential. Using amsight, MMB Volum-e can:

  • maintain end-to-end traceability from raw material to final inspection
  • prove part conformity efficiently against customer and regulatory specifications
  • apply statistical process control (SPC) to monitor stability over time, and
  • perform fast and structured root-cause analysis when deviations occur

Rather than focusing primarily on production scaling, the software is used to deepen process understanding and stability, strengthen confidence in metal AM for highly critical applications, and reduce the manual effort traditionally associated with preparing audit-ready quality documentation.

“This long-term agreement reflects a high level of trust and a shared understanding of how data-driven quality management is essential for additive manufacturing in regulated industries,” said Tim Wischeropp, CEO and Co-Founder of amsight. “Together with MMB Volum-e, we are building a robust foundation for traceability, compliance, and continuous process improvement in space-grade AM, without the complexity of a large MES or ERP project.”
