Shia LaBeouf revealed the truth about his hotly-speculated feud with Timothée Chalamet in a wild social media post this week.

Transformers actor LaBeouf, 38, who was slammed this week for taking a swipe at the Oscar nominee, 29, took to X to post an email Chalamet had allegedly sent him as he starred in David Mamet play Henry Jones in 2023.

Beginning his post with a quote from Rudyard Kipling‘s 1895 poem 'If', LaBeouf penned: 'If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken, twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools.

Hitting back at rumors he is feuding with the star, he added: 'Timothée Chalamet is doing better work than anyone alive – we been good.'

In the purported email screenshot the Call Me By Your Name star wrote: 'Absolutely blown away by your work the other night. Totally electric, totally present at every turn, king of your kingdom even if that kingdom is a miserable 4×4 prison cell. 

'What a fantastic play. I hope you guys take it to New York. And I hope this is the beginning of your work on stage and not an anomaly !! Timothée.'

LaBeouf responded: 'Thank you doggy / Every blessing to you / Fun watching you evolve / Take ownership / Bang bang.'

DailyMail.com has contacted representatives for Timothée Chalamet for comment. 

This comes after the young actor's fans blasted 'creep' LaBeouf for taking a swipe at the young actor in a barbed new interview.

The Transformers actor invoked the ire of Chalamet's devout followers when he opened up about criticism he had faced for wanting to be 'great' while the two-time Oscar winner was praised for the same sentiment.

The drama began when LaBeouf was discussing his sacking from 2013 Broadway play Orphans - in which he was rumored to have butted heads with co-star Alec Baldwin.

Reflecting on his extreme method acting - which saw him sleep in Central Park and join Baldwin's acting classes, the controversial star said finding Catholicism had changed him.

He told THR: 'Me and Alec would never have these problems now. But I was in an island. 

'Then I hear Timothée Chalamet get up and he says something like, “I want to be great.” I so know the feeling. On him, it’s cute. On me, it wasn’t cute. You know what I’m saying?'

In February Chalamet expressed his wish to become an acting legend when he won the Best Actor SAG Award for A Complete Unknown.

He said: 'I can’t downplay the significance of this award, because it means the most to me. I know we’re in a subjective business, but the truth is, I’m really in pursuit of greatness.'

Fans quickly took to social media to slam the actor and bring up abuse allegations levelled against him by ex girlfriend FKA Twigs in a 2020 lawsuit. He has denied all the allegations.

One fan wrote: 'I didn’t necessarily find it cute when Timmy said it either. But abusing your wife is *probably* more of a concern for people as it relates to you. Just a guess.

Others wrote:  'He’s a 29yo who’s been doing this for over a decade and has kept a great reputation, unlike Shia LaBeouf. Yeah you could have been great too, dips**t. 

'The thing is, Shia is great. But like a lot of people he sometimes gets in his own way. I suspect it’s probably from unresolved childhood difficulties that he really should resolve because he’s naturally a great actor and always has been. 

'Chalamet does it without the pretension. He does with authenticity and inspires the idea that he actually could be great. LaBeouf gave the impression of a dilettante.

'Well he’s not an abuser like you.

'Bc Timmy is cute as hell, your'e just creepy...

Others praised the actor for his talent with one writing: 'Shia is great. He’s the Dennis Hopper of our generation. He carried a lot of modern classics. Constantine. I Robot. Transformers. Etc

FKA filed the lawsuit against the star with a slew of explosive allegations, which the actor finally addressed in 2022, although the singer slammed his 'gaslighting'.

Branding FKA a 'saint', the actor recalled that she 'saved my life' - sparking him to wake up and take responsibility for his actions.

The couple dated for just under a year in 2018, after meeting on the set of American drama Honey Boy', with Twigs later accusing him of 'relentless abuse' and 'knowingly passing on a sexually transmitted disease'.

She branded their relationship 'the worst thing I’ve ever been through in my life'.

He admitted in a 2022 interview: 'I hurt that woman. And in the process of doing that, I hurt many other people, and many other people before that woman.

'I was a pleasure-seeking, selfish, self-centered, dishonest, inconsiderate, fearful human being ... When I think about what my life has become, and what it is now, like what my purpose is now ... I need to be useful.'

Among her allegations, FKA is accusing Shia of violently attacking and strangling her, knowingly infecting her with an STD, and physical and verbal violence.

But Shia, who has been diagnosed with PTSD and alcoholism, insisted in 2022 that he is in a better place now, branding himself a 'public sinner'.

He explained; 'I’m in the tribe of the f***-ups. I’m a very public sinner, a very fallible person in the public sphere. What I think now my purpose is, is to not do…

'The other examples that we’ve had of how to navigate something like this — which is to go after the woman, or try to win a court case, or get back into a f****** movie or like get back on at all...

'My purpose, and I mean this with every fibre of my being, is to be instructive with my life, so that I can be an advertisement, like a billboard, for a principled way of living.'

The lawsuit is scheduled to proceed to trial in September 29, 2025 .

The star is now married to actress Mia Goth, 31, and the pair share a three year old daughter.
