AS the emails and texts roll in today, prospective runners in the TCS London Marathon 2027 are sharing the highs and lows.

Everyone in my WhatsApp and Facebook circles has met with rejection so far.

This is despite a record 100,000 people taking part over two days this year.

It must be a massive communication blizzard by the organisers today, as not every entrant I know has heard back as of this afternoon.

One friend has a text and an email informing him that he has not been successful, which is rubbing things in slightly.

But there is still time for others to experience the thrill of this terrific event that I believe is unlike any other in the world.

On the Worcester Running Community Facebook, all the runners I spoke to said that they have not been successful.

Group member Ann Hewlett responded: "Eleven years of entering the ballot and it's yet another rejection. Same with my partner and daughter.

"I ran for charity in 2019 and those places are difficult as well. The fundraising is tough and the targets are high.

"My daughter got her second rejection."

Ann wasn't dejected by the bad luck however, adding; "Plenty of great marathons to do apart from London."

This time round the 26.2-mile event is entitled ‘The Double’ and judging by last year’s record-breaking instalment those who do manage to secure a place will be in for crowds at fever pitch and following in the footsteps of some incredible pros.
