You can visit this charming Scottish town where you'll be able to meet the famous Highland cows and even get to feed them before exploring the "most beautiful scenery" ever
If you're constantly looking for things to do, you can truly discover Scotland when you visit this charming town. The glorious location is surrounded by mountains, lochs and forests, making it the perfect base for exploring the "most beautiful scenery".
Once you're done with the adventure, you can dine at a popular bistro where the Beatles stayed during their tour around Scotland in the 1960s. You can then visit one of Scotland's best preserved castles, which has featured in a number of iconic TV titles, including the Game of Thrones and Outlander. The place we're talking about is, of course, the bustling town of Callander, Stirlingshire.
According to Scotland Uncovered, a TikTok account run by Greig McBride which boasts 617,000 followers, the charming town is often known as the Gateway to the Highlands.
In a post, Greig said: "Nestled with the Loch Lomond and Tossachs National Park, Callander is surrounded by mountains, lochs and forests making it the perfect base for exploring some of Scotland's most beautiful scenery.
"We stayed at Thackray House, a stunning historic property originally built in 1625 as a hunting lodge for the Dukes of Perth. Full of character and history, the estate even has its own private chapel hidden within the grounds.
"A real highlight was dining at the gorgeous on site Strawberry Fields Bistro named after the Beatles who stayed here during their Scottish tours in the 1960s."

Greig said after a good feast, you can wander through the gorgeous walled garden. Then you must meet the Highland cows at Kilmahog, because "no trip to Callander is complete" without getting to feed the animals.
Meanwhile, Doune Castle, which is just a short drive away, is also worth a visit. Greig continued: "[This is] one of Scotland's best preserved castles. It is featured in Outlander as Castle Leoch, Monty Python, Holy Grail, Game of Thrones and Outlaw King.
"For adventure, Roll Out Doors offers kayaking and paddle boarding on the stunning Loch Lubnaig or you can explore the area by mountain bike or e-bike on some incredible trails.
"Back in town, take a stroll along Callander's charming main street before heading over to the Antique Centre in nearby Doune to hunt for hidden treasures. If you're planning a trip to Scotland you must visit Callander."
The bustling tourist town sits along the River Teith, just 16 miles from Stirling. It offers dramatic Highland scenery, independent shops and excellent outdoor trails.
