A Christmas mad mum already has her tree up and decorated, has bought all her presents early and is listening to festive songs every day. Natalie Wiseman, 40, has always been obsessed with the festive season and has her tree up all year round.
Each year the regional gym operations manager rotates her decorations - putting them on in June and July. And she's saved £800 on her gifts by getting bargains in the January sales.
Natalie, from Newham, East London, said: “I reckon I must save at least £800 on presents for everybody because if you start looking in January then you are able to get lots of expensive things for half the price. Last year, I bought five or six boxes of chocolates for the price of two so it meant I had presents ready to go without forking out a fortune.
"I also get bits of Christmas food shopping every week, you can easily get some of the tinned stuff and the gravy, it helps cut the cost a bit.”
Mum-of-four Natalie says once Christmas is over she changes the tree to be decorated with 80s and 90s themed adornments with colourful lights and foil decorations. But come summer she gives it a festive do over. She said: “All of your Christmas baubles and tinsels have different memories attached to it."
Natalie said that Christmas for her is about feeling joyful, cosy nights under a blanket and everybody destressing. She said: “Christmas for me is about making everyone feel more happy, there is enough darkness in the world as it is so it is nice to be able to put some light back into people’s lives.
“It reminds me of when you are walking down the street and you smile at someone and then they smile back at you and it instantly makes you feel better about yourself when you know you have got something to look forward to.”
Natalie also said she never stops playing Christmas music and turns on the tunes every morning, saying that as long as the songs are rotated she will never get bored of them. Her family and friends give their full support to Natalie’s festive enthusiasm. She said: “My two eldest love Christmas as much as I do and my two youngest are fine with what I do, even my boss knows how much how I love Christmas!
“Our Christmas Eve tradition is that we always get Chinese and drink hot chocolate and then on the day it is quite conventional, having dinner and watching TV on the sofa. I’ve got a grandson who isn’t quite two and I want to take him to see Father Christmas and on the Polar Express train.
"Last year, he was a bit too little to know what was going on but he loves the lights already.”
Natalie estimates she has 15 sets of Christmas pyjamas and 15 festive jumpers - which she dons all year round. On her TikTok page @xmas6609, Natalie shares daily countdowns in the lead up to the big day. She said: “We have already passed the six-month mark so it is very exciting at the moment!
“Most of the reception that I get on social media is very positive and I don’t let the haters upset me because if they think it is too early to celebrate, then that is fine with me. I have made Christmas content creator friends who I chat to on a Discord server I set up and I get so many lovely messages from people who say that my content helps with their mental health.”
Natalie is encouraging everyone who would like to spread some early festive cheer to just get stuck in. “It doesn’t always have to be something big, even drinking my cup of tea out of my Christmas mug helps to boost my mood," she says.
“Christmas isn’t just on the day, it is a whole period of joy and happiness you can get involved in very easily.”
