СпутникиРНSpaceXРоскосмосNASAFrost Stadium, the Stadium of 1,000 Dreams, will be in full swing on Tuesday, June 9 for the 28th edition of the Tennessee-Georgia All-Star Softball Classic, powered by Scooter's Coffee. The annual border battle features a doubleheader between recent graduates of southeast Tennessee against their counterparts from northwest Georgia.
Game 1 will begin at 6 p.m.
Some of the top softball players from both states will be showcased, nearly all of whom will be headed to play for programs at the next level.
That includes local schools, such as Chattanooga State, Cleveland State, Lee, Tennessee Wesleyan and Bryan, to NCAA Division I programs like Chattanooga, Lipscomb, MTSU and UNC-Greensboro.
Sarah Warren Bowles will serve as head coach for Team Tennessee after guiding the Lady Buccaneers of Boyd-Buchanan to a 34-7 record this spring. They finished as state runner-up in the TSSAA Division II-A bracket.
Team Georgia will be led by Heritage's Reagan Armour, whose Generals went 23-10 and won their sixth GHSA state title (Class AAA) this past fall and their third in a row in the classification.
Tennessee had swept the Classic in 2023 and 2024, but Georgia, who split the twinbill in 2021 and 2022, picked up a sweep last June. Four Peach State hurlers limited their Volunteer State counterparts to just two earned runs on 10 hits over 14 innings as they took both games, 1-0 and 5-3.
It marked just the third doubleheader sweep for Team Georgia with the first two coming in 2007 and 2011.
Brantley Bruggink (Hixson) was named the Clifford Kirk Tennessee Player of the Game. Lakely Parrish (LFO) took home the Chip Liner Georgia Player of the Game award, while Gracie Helton (Gordon Lee), who finished the night with a home run, three RBIs and reached base in five of her six plate appearances during the doubleheader, was named the Stump Martin Most Valuable Player.
Tennessee still holds a 39-13-2 edge in the all-time series, which began in 1998.
While the All-Star Classic will take place that evening, potential future All-Star Classic players will get a chance to shine at Frost with six youth games, starting at 9 a.m. The first two games will match up the Wreckers versus Force Elite 2017 in a doubleheader.
Atlanta Premier 2015 and Force Elite 2015 will face off at 11:30 a.m., followed by a game between RCR and the North Georgia Mocs at 12:45 p.m. At 2, 12U Force Elite will battle the 12U Georgia Patriots and the final youth game will begin at 3:15 and pit 16U Force Elite against Tri-State.
Admission for all the games is $10. Children ages 6-12 are $5 and kids ages 5 and under get in free.
