Synopsis
Senior Congress leader Manish Tewari expressed frustration over being overlooked for party appointments, hinting at "insecurities of individuals and institutions." This comes after the central leadership maintained the status quo in Punjab Congress leadership, despite internal rifts. Tewari, a long-serving party member, quoted "Que sera, sera," reflecting a sense of resignation amidst the ongoing internal dynamics.
New Delhi: Senior Congress leader from Punjab, Manish Tewari, on Thursday made a loaded public comment about having no cure for the "insecurities of individuals and institutions", a day after Congress central leadership backed off from its prolonged attempts to make a pre-poll organisational change of guard in the Punjab Congress unit and instead opted for status quo in the leadership of PCC and its legislature wing.
As the Congress leadership made only some cosmetic appointments of election-related party bodies and working presidents, Tewari reacted to reports that he was also overlooked for these slots. "Is there any bigger flaw in a person than possessing a skill or talent? Wish I had an antidote for the insecurities of individuals and institutions!" Tewari posted on X. Maintaining that Congress has given him enough over the past 45 years and he also has devoted his entire adult life in the service of Congress, he quipped: "Que sera, sera, whatever will be, will be..."
His comments coincided with bewilderment in Congress circles about the way the party leadership chose to handle the affairs. On Wednesday, it opted for status quo after a further flare-up in the internal rifts with the sensitive Jat Sikh-Dalit divide.
