Meet the cats from Bad Cat Café desperately looking for a forever home

The Bad Cat Café in Wallsend are desperate to secure forever homes for their longest residents and two new arrivals who need long term fostering. The café celebrated its 200th adoption earlier this year, but with a waiting list for more in need of homes, the Café is urging those who wish to have a loveable furry addition to their lives to consider their cats.

All the cats who come to Bad Cat Café come from less than ideal circumstances and are usually ones that have special needs which make them less likely to be adopted in usual shelters. But they are all loveable cats in need of a forever home and are required to be indoor cats only.

The two in most desperate need of a long term foster home are the wonderful Sammy and Marmite, a brother and sister pair who are 17 years old. The two are in wonderful health for their age and were previously with their owner from kittens.

Unfortunately, their owner has moved to sheltered accommodation and had to make the heart breaking decision to surrender their beloved cats to the shelter. The Café will provide food, litter, litter trays and scratching posts as well as cover all vet bills but hope it would be preferred if potential adopters are close to Wallsend where their vets are.

Due to their age Sammy and Marmite’s need for stability is crucial and they need their own retirement home to enjoy their last free years together which means long term foster carers are desperately needed. Another older cat in need of a home is the beautiful Susie, who is 10 years old and has been with the Café for the last few months.

Susie would need to be a pet only house but she is good with older children. The friendly female is social and playful and according to her foster carer: “She’s such a good cat, she’d be perfect for a lot of people.”

Next are bonded sisters Harper and Harriet who are one and half years old. The two have been with the Cafe’s foster carers for the last few months as Harper is completely blind and Harriet is partially blind.

Despite taking a while to adapt to new places, for obvious reasons, once settled the two are playful and love people. The two are both fine with children and could also be introduced to another friendly cat that may want two extra friends.

Harper and Harriet’s current foster carers said: “Harper and Harriet are with us, can I just say they’re an absolute delight. We adore them. They are so affectionate and trusting and just see the best in people. They could play all day and love cuddles.” Another cat in need of a forever home is Spot.

The one year old would need to be an only cat as he is completely deaf but that does not stop him chasing his favourite toy, the laser pen. When in the mood Spot is a bundle of joy, playful and cuddly and loves to run through tunnels at any given opportunity.

Spot’s foster carer said: “Spot is funny, energetic and quirky. He loves his food. He’s great fun and will make someone very happy.” Finally the longest current resident is the beautiful Stottie at one year old.

Stottie has been in the café since March when she came in with her five kittens. While all kittens have been rehomed the young mum has had little interest compared to other residents at the café.

Like Spot, Stottie loves to play with a laser pen and would need to be an only pet for all the love and attention she deserves. While shy at first with new people she becomes very playful and social once she has had time to warm up.

Her foster carer said: “Stottie is the most beautiful, affectionate girl. She was a little shy when she arrived but soon came out of her shell. She loves to play and just wants to be with me.” A perfect companion to the right person.
