Poland: R.Power enlists EPCs for 2.2GWh of BESS, EDF and Eurus, Eiffel and Ergy co-invest in projects

Дата публикации: 24-07-2026 10:48:49

It's been a busy week for the large-scale energy storage market in Poland, with projects moved to construction and delivery by EDF Power Solutions & Eurus Energy Europe, Eiffel Investment Group & Ergy, R.Power Renewables, and EDP.

The project, initially owned and developed by EDF power solutions Polska, will soon start construction and is targeting a commercial operation date (COD) in the second half of 2027.

Eurus said the project was initially owned and developed by EDF power solutions Polska, indicating it has come in at a later date as investor. The firms didn’t mention a CM contract for the project.

It is EDF Power Solutions’ second project in the country after it commissioned a 120MWh system earlier this year. While this is Eurus’ first in the country, it has worked on projects elsewhere in Central Eastern Europe (CEE) region.

Eiffel Investment Group and Ergy to jointly build 46MW/184MWh project

Investors Eiffel Investment Group and Ergy have partnered to invest in BESS projects in Poland, starting with a 46MW/184MWh system in Baczyna.

The project is ready-to-build (RTB) with commercial operations expected to begin in 2028, and it has a CM contract.

Eiffel Investment Group will provide long-term infrastructure investment expertise while Ergy will originate, develop, arrange financing, construct and manage the projects. The pair are looking to acquire other projects in Poland.

They said the project also benefits from support from the European Union under the InvestEU fund. The fund helps mobilise private sector investment in critical industries by providing financing packages, and has funded BESS in Denmark and elsewhere in CEE.

Eiffle has also invested in projects in Romania, in partnership with IPP R.Power, which this week also progressed large projects in Poland.

R.Power enlists EPCs for two Poland BESS, totalling 2.2GWh

R.Power this week announced signing engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contracts for two more large-scale projects in Poland.

It has enlisted contractor Onde to deliver its Dzięgielewo (300MW/1,200MWh) project and a separate contractor, Esix, to deliver its Gdańsk (250MW/1,000MWh) project. Both projects are expected to come online around the turn of 2027/2028.

R.Power enlisted power firm Axpo for a 10-year optimisation deal, with a floor, for the Dzięgielewo in May this year.

Though R.Power didn’t mention a CM contract for the two projects, it has won 1.7GW/6.3GWh of CM obligations for BESS in Poland, so they are likely to be included in that. It is also open to selling some of those projects, as it did with the 250MW/1GWh Tursko Wielkie BESS to power firm Engie last month.

R.Power is also building a 150MW/300MWh in Jedwabno, Poland (which it financed earlier this year), as well as the 127MW/254MWh Scornicesti project in Romania (the one invested in by Eiffel).

We discussed optimisation, financing and procurement with two of the R.Power team earlier this year at the Energy Storage Summit 2026 in London.

EDP to deploy 8MW/20MWh for logistics firm

Finally, Portugal-headquartered power firm EDP will deploy BESS units totalling 8MW/20MWh for logistics firm CLIP at four separate sites. The BESS will help CLIP increase the efficiency of its electricity consumption management.
