For many of us, Tales from the Crypt shaped our love of horror.

The HBO anthology series was gateway horror for an entire generation, offering a safe entry point into the genre in much the same way Are You Afraid of the Dark? did for younger kids growing up on Nickelodeon. It was scary enough to leave an impression, funny enough to keep us coming back, and packed with enough blood, monsters, and dark humor to make us lifelong horror fans.

While we finally received Tales from the Crypt: The Complete Series on DVD back in 2005, horror fans have spent decades begging Warner Bros. and HBO for a proper HD remaster, a Blu-ray release, and a streaming home worthy of one of television’s greatest horror series.

Earlier this year, Shudder surprised horror fans by quietly adding all seven seasons to its streaming service. It was a huge win for longtime fans who had been waiting years to revisit the Crypt Keeper without digging out their DVDs.

Now the series is even easier to watch.

All seven seasons of Tales from the Crypt are currently streaming free on Tubi, meaning there’s never been a better time to revisit the series – or discover it for the first time.

For years, this was considered one of horror’s holy grails. Outside of those DVDs, the series was frustratingly absent from streaming and almost impossible to recommend to new viewers. Now it’s available to virtually everyone.

And yet… it almost feels too late.

Maybe it’s because horror has changed so dramatically over the past decade, but I genuinely wonder how many younger horror fans even know what Tales from the Crypt is. Backrooms has become something of a generational dividing line, and I wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of Gen Z horror fans have never spent five minutes with the Crypt Keeper.

That’s a shame.

If you’re a parent who grew up with the series, now’s the time to fix that. Introduce your kids to one of the greatest horror television shows ever made. Let them experience those unforgettable intros, the wicked sense of humor, and the incredible lineup of filmmakers and actors who helped make the show legendary.

And who knows?

Maybe if enough people rediscover Tales from the Crypt, we’ll finally convince the rights holders that it’s time to give the Crypt Keeper the comeback he’s deserved for decades. Horror is better when he’s laughing along with us.
