Tata Power on Monday reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 1,176 crore for the first quarter of the ongoing financial year 2027, marking nearly 11% year-on-year (YoY) rise from Rs 1,060 crore reported in the year-ago period.

Revenue from operations meanwhile grew around 6% YoY to Rs 19,051 crore during the April-June quarter of FY27, from Rs 18,035 crore reported in the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year. The Tata Group company said its EBITDA grew 8% YoY to Rs 4,249 crore, while operating profit also grew 8% YoY to Rs 18,898 crore during the quarter under review.

Tata Power’s total income rose nearly 6% YoY to Rs 19,439 crore, while total expenses rose over 8% YoY to Rs 17,705 crore during the first quarter of the ongoing financial year 2027. The company’s earnings per share (EPS) meanwhile stood at Rs 4.12 in Q1 FY27, as against Rs 4.26 in Q1 FY26.

Power demand rose around 8.5% YoY during the quarter under review in India, which has one of the lowest power consumption per capita, the company said, adding that the country is likely to see a Rs 9.2 trillion transmission capex between FY25 and FY32.

Tata Power reported its highest ever quarterly capex of Rs 5,375 crore during Q1. It also said that its board of directors during its meeting held today approved issuance in one or more tranches, non-cumulative, redeemable, taxable, listed, rated securities in the form of NCDs or bonds or other debt securities worth up to Rs 4,500 crore (debt securities) or its equivalent in one or more currencies on private placement basis.

Tata Power released its results in the post market hours of Monday. The shares of the power company closed at Rs 377 apiece on NSE today, falling over 1% in one week and nearly 3% in a month.

In the longer term, Tata Power shares have fallen more than 4% in a year, but have delivered 72% returns over three years and 213% over five years. The company has a market capitalisation of more than Rs 1.21 lakh crore at the end of Monday’s trading session.
