MOSCOW, August 6. /TASS/. Ukrainian anti-corruption authorities suspect former Ukrainian Ambassador to the United States Olga Stefanyshina of illegal enrichment exceeding $300,000, according to information published on the Telegram channel of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU).

Ukrainian law enforcement agencies found that Stefanyshina owned "three apartments registered under a friend and her mother, a parking space and several non-residential premises registered under her father, as well as a Mercedes-Benz GLC 220 d registered under a subordinate." The total value of the assets amounts to 13.9 million hryvnias (about $311,000). "The former ambassador did not declare any of these assets," the agency said.

Investigators also said that Stefanyshina negotiated the purchase of a house near Kiev worth an estimated value of $550,000. "The suspect’s official income does not allow her to purchase such property," NABU said.

Vladimir Zelensky dismissed Stefanyshina from the post of ambassador on August 3. On August 6, a Kiev court ordered her to post bail of 6 million hryvnias ($134,000). She must also appear before NABU investigators upon request, notify law enforcement agencies about any change of residence and avoid contacting witnesses in the case. She has five days to pay the bail, otherwise the court will choose another measure of restraint. Stefanyshina told media that she would try to raise the money as she did not have such funds.

According to Ukrainian lawmaker Alexey Goncharenko, who is listed in Russia’s register of terrorists and extremists, a court hearing included messages showing that Stefanyshina allegedly attempted to influence the selection of the NABU director. Nikolay Kucheryavenko, head of the commission selecting the NABU director, sent her a screenshot with a list of candidates, and she gave him instructions. The events date back to late 2022, when Stefanyshina served as deputy prime minister for European and Euro-Atlantic integration.

The former ambassador has long been a defendant in another corruption case investigated by NABU involving an analysis of Ukrainian legislation to bring it in line with EU requirements, which is currently being considered by a court. Ukrainian media also reported that when Stefanyshina served as justice minister in 2024-2025, her former husband received seized state assets for management. No charges have been filed against her in those episodes so far.
