MOSCOW, September 24. /TASS/. United Russia may win 349 seats following the State Duma election, the party’s Chairman Dmitry Medvedev said at a joint meeting of the bureau of the party’s Supreme Council and the presidium of its General Council.

"According to the data available at the moment, I will emphasize once again that tomorrow there will be a decision on this matter, United Russia received about 58% of citizens’ votes. Our candidates prevailed in more than 200 single-member constituencies. And overall, we expect to have 349 seats," Medvedev said.

According to the United Russia chairman, any political force, "if it wants to remain successful, must adapt in accordance with the times," while any attempts to "permanently secure a place for itself at the highest political level, to freeze the development of the political process, as a rule, lead to the disappearance of one political force or another." "We remember the events of the relatively recent past in our former country. Therefore, it is important that United Russia has changed and introduced new politicians into its ranks. It was the energy of the new people who joined our party together with those who have been working in the party for quite a long time that helped produce this result," he noted.

"The final figures show that United Russia has managed to achieve the goals it set for itself in this electoral cycle. We have repeatedly discussed this with you; it has indeed improved its performance in the areas where there were certain problems in 2021 and ensured that its future faction in the State Duma, subject to the decision that we will have to make now, will have a constitutional majority," he said.
