СпутникиРНSpaceXРоскосмосNASAISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar on Friday accused the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-led Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government of facilitating terrorists and failing to maintain law and order, revealing that 2,456 terrorist attacks have been reported in the province during 2026, resulting in the martyrdom of 472 security personnel and injuries to over 1,500 people.
In a special statement, the minister alleged that the provincial government was not only unaware of the deteriorating security situation but was also reluctant to take effective measures against terrorism.
Tarar accused KP Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, his cabinet and the entire PTI-led provincial administration of facilitating terrorist elements, claiming that the party had consistently avoided condemning terrorist attacks and taking action against those responsible.
He alleged that terrorists had targeted all political parties, while PTI remained their preferred political party. He further described PTI as the “B-team of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan and C-team of the Afghan Taliban.”
The minister maintained that maintaining law and order was primarily a provincial responsibility and that the PTI government must fulfil its constitutional obligations to protect citizens and restore peace.
Tarar also alleged that illegal trade in timber and tobacco, along with unlawful gold mining, was taking place in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He claimed that politically connected individuals were involved in illegal mining operations and contracts, with proceeds allegedly being used to finance terrorist groups.
According to the minister, these alleged financial links explained the provincial government’s reluctance to take decisive action against terrorist networks.
Criticising Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, Tarar alleged that his conduct resembled that of a TTP commander rather than a provincial chief executive.
Referring to drone attacks originating from Afghanistan, the minister claimed that provincial authorities had failed to respond effectively, while Pakistan’s security forces confronted the terrorists.
He also recalled the determination of a person injured in Hangu, who reportedly said that the people were not cowards and would continue confronting terrorists once they recovered.
Tarar said Pakistani citizens, security personnel and law enforcement agencies remained committed to eliminating terrorism, adding that the entire nation was making sacrifices in the fight against terrorist violence.
He warned that the loss of innocent lives due to terrorism could not be tolerated and urged the provincial government to stop what he described as the facilitation of terrorist elements. The minister called on PTI to act responsibly, prioritise national security and work towards restoring peace and stability in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
