MOSCOW, July 27. /TASS/. Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov focused during his news briefing on Monday on media reports regarding a possible discussion between Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelensky and US President Donald Trump on the air truce initiative over Ukraine’s airspace, as well as the protection of Russian merchant ships.

TASS has summed up the Kremlin spokesman’s key statements.

Russian President's schedule

- Russian President Vladimir Putin will meet later in the day with lawmakers of the State Duma (the Russian Parliament’s lower house) of the 8th Convocation and present awards to particularly distinguished lawmakers.

- The Russian president is scheduled to hold an international telephone call.

Ukrainian conflict settlement

- Reports claiming that Vladimir Zelensky and US President Donald Trump may discuss an air ceasefire initiative for Ukraine are merely media speculation. "Such reports did emerge several days ago… For now, this is nothing more than media speculation, as there are no specific details available."

About Zelensky's statements

- North Korean troops’ possible further participation in Russia’s special military operation is not up to Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelensky to make comments about. "I consider it unnecessary to comment [on such remarks]. It is not up to Zelensky to come up with statements regarding our [Russia’s] plans."

- Russia will not additionally equip its international commercial merchant ships with weapons, but the Russian Navy may take measures to protect them. "International maritime law is in force, under which international commercial merchant ships cannot be armed, that is why they are commercial merchant ships. Any additional equipment for these vessels is also impossible, so that is out of the question. But yes, the Russian Navy may take measures to protect them. President [Vladimir] Putin made a comprehensive statement on this yesterday."
