A good night for Franklin Arias of the Portland Sea Dogs got even better after the Sea Dogs closed out a 3-2 win over the Binghamton Rumble Ponies in an Eastern League game Thursday in Binghamton, New York.

After the game, in which Arias slugged his 19th home run of the season, the Boston Red Sox revealed that they’re promoting their top prospect to Triple-A Worcester.

Arias, a 20-year-old shortstop, leaves the Sea Dogs with a .318 average, 19 home runs, 52 RBI, 50 runs scored and an Eastern League-leading .994 OPS.

Arias is ranked as the No. 3 overall prospect in Baseball America’s most recent top 100 update.

The Sea Dogs grabbed the lead Thursday night when Arias blasted a fly ball over the center-field wall in the third inning. In the fifth, Caden Rose led off with a double, took third on a passed ball and scored on a fielder’s choice grounder by Will Turner after a walk to Arias.

Portland made it 3-0 in the top of the ninth when Mason White hit a leadoff triple and came home on a sacrifice fly by Raudelis Martinez.

Meanwhile, Sea Dogs pitcher John Holobetz, Reidis Sena and Cooper Adams combined for 18 strikeouts.

Holobetz (5-3) struck out 10 and allowed three hits over five innings. Sena pitched 2 2/3 innings and recorded six strikeouts, and Adams got the last four outs for his fifth save, though he gave up a two-run homer to Corey Collins with two outs in the bottom of the ninth.
