Famed California health food store Erewhon has started selling $12 'sacred water' - and fans of the shop have been left in total disbelief over the pricey new product.

Erewhon, which has been labeled as 'the world's most expensive grocery store,' frequently attracts celebrities like the Kardashians, Justin Bieber and Hailey Bieber, Miley Cyrus and even Kai Trump.

The premium grocery store started in Boston in 1966, selling macrobiotic and organic foods, but has more recently become a trendy spot for image-obsessed influencers, spurred by social media and a private equity deal in 2019.

It now has eight locations in California's most affluent neighborhoods, all with a focus on locally sourced, vegan and organic food catering to niche diets.

It has become known for selling extremely expensive products, including a $26 bottle of 'oxygenated' water and hot sauce costing as much as $40.

Now, they've introduced a brand-new way to drink water in collaboration with Jolie, a shower filter company.

The herbal tonic, which retails for $12 and is available at the store's tonic bars, is a blend of grape juice, coconut milk, coconut water and jasmine tea, 'delicately layered' with holy basil, anise, cardamom and raw honey.

The drink is sold in a 12oz cup, which means that each sip costs approximately $0.50 - and some fans aren't too impressed with the new and costly concoction.

'$12 for water? Does it come with enlightenment too?' one user sarcastically wrote on X.

Another penned: 'They are officially robbing the people in plain sight.'

'$12 for some juice and coconut water is actually robbery even for Erewhon standards. Imagine paying that much just to hydrate,' someone else typed.

A different X user echoed: 'At this point Erewhon is just running experiments on how far aesthetic branding can go before people say enough.'

'That’s just water with extra steps,' another joked.

'I’ll just make it myself,' someone else chimed in.

In a post on their Instagram page, Jolie shared more details about the water and the inspiration behind it.

'When developing our Sacred Water collaboration with @Erewhon, we wanted the ingredients to feel as historic and revered as the concept behind the drink,' the brand wrote.

'One of the star ingredients we landed on is Anise Hyssop, which we found at the Union Square Farmers' Market. Part of the mint family, Anise Hyssop is a beautiful plant with lavender-like purple flowers which you see in this photo,' the message continued.

'Friends of ours brew it in teas and juices and in our Sacred Water drink, it adds an herbal, sweet and very slight licorice taste.'

It will be available at the grocery store's tonic bar from mid-July until the end of September.

This isn't the first time that Erewhon has caught some heat for their eye-watering prices.

In years past, they've been slammed for selling a 64-ounce bottle of 'hyper-oxygenated' water for $25.99, and even a tote bag for $225.

In March, President Trump's granddaughter Kai was branded as 'tone deaf' after she shared a YouTube video of herself shopping at the store.

In the 18-minute segment, titled 'I Tried the World's Most Expensive Grocery Store,' Trump wandered through the aisles of an Erewhon in Los Angeles, accompanied by her Secret Service agent.

She bought $233 worth of items, including a glass jar of Medjool dates for $17, and a platter of $19.99 Ocean Plate sushi.
