Corvette collectors will have a chance next weekend to chase one of the rarest modern C8s ever built, as Mecum Auctions rolls out a Black 2026 Corvette ZR1 Convertible equipped with the ultra‑limited Stars & Steel Edition package. Chevrolet created the Stars & Steel collection to commemorate America’s 250th anniversary, and production numbers were kept extremely tight, making this ZR1 one of the most desirable special editions of the C8 era.

This particular example checks every box for rarity, performance, and presentation. It’s 1 of just 25 ZR1s to receive the Stars & Steel limited edition, and only 1 of 3 configured with the Carbon Aero Package, adding even more exclusivity to an already scarce build. Chevrolet produced 250 Stars & Steel Corvettes across all trims for 2026, and this ZR1 carries the commemorative No. 249/250 designation.

Chevrolet’s Stars & Steel Edition was announced back in December, and it was designed as a patriotic celebration of America’s semiquincentennial. The package blends iconic flag-inspired graphics with modern metallic accents, unique badging, and interior touches that celebrates the America 250 milestone. It was only offered for the 2026 model year only, and the ZR1 allocation was capped at 25 units, making them instant collectibles.

And because it’s a new C8 ZR1, the new owner will surely enjoy the twin-turbo 5.5L DOHC V8 that delivers an “unthinkable” 1,064 horsepower. It’s also equipped with the Carbon Aero package that further elevates the ZR1’s capability with lightweight aerodynamic components engineered for high-speed stability. With only three Stars & Steel ZR1s having this upgrade, it’s one of the rarest configurations in the entire 2026 lineup.

This Stars & Steel ZR1 Corvette Convertible is finished in Black with the Adrenaline Red interior, and it features the 3LZ trim, Level 2 Carbon Fiber interior, Stealth Interior package, and front lift. Further options include Black alloy wheels and Black exhaust tips.

Checking Mecum’s previous results, we see that only one other C8 Corvette ZR1 has been featured at a Mecum auction. This Black 2026 Corvette ZR1 Coupe was sold during the Houston 2026 auction earlier this year for $330,000. Mecum also got quite of bit of press when they sold an ultra-rare 2026 Corvette ZR1X Quail Silver Limited Edition Convertible in Indianapolis back in May for $605,000 which set a benchmark price for Chevy’s ultimate C8 Corvette.

We think this Black 2026 Corvette ZR1 Stars & Steel Convertible has an opportunity to really shine at Mecum’s Harrisburg auction. With its low production, one-year-only commemorative design, and most powerful engine ever installed in a Corvette, this car represents a rare opportunity to collectors.

The auction date for this 2026 Black Corvette ZR1 is scheduled for Saturday, July 25th.
