Tennis star Naomi Osaka has welcomed a baby girl in Los Angeles with her rapper boyfriend Cordae.

She previously announced she was pregnant in January and in June said she was expecting a girl.

PEOPLE quoted a source as saying: 'They are doing well.'

At the start of the year, Osaka said she would be back for the Australian Open in 2024 while announcing that she was pregnant. She has been in a relationship with the Grammy-nominated American rapper since 2019.

Osaka is a four-time major winner, winning twice in Australia and twice at the US Open in New York.

Upon announcing her pregnancy, she said in a social media post with a picture of a baby scan: 'Can't wait to get back on the court but here's a little life update for 2023.

'The past few years have been interesting to say the least, but I find that its the most challenging times in life that may be the most fun.

'These few months away from the sport has really given me a new love and appreciation for the game I've dedicated my life to. I realise that life is so short and I don't take any moment for granted, everyday is a new blessing and adventure.

'I know that I have so much to look forward to in the future, one thing I'm looking forward to is for my kid to watch one of my matches and tell someone, 'that's my mom,'. 

Osaka has previously spoken openly of her struggles to handle the expectation around her in tennis.

After a shock defeat at the US Open to Leylah Fernandez in 2021, she tearfully said: 'I honestly don't know when I'm going to play my next tennis match.

'I think I'm going to take a break from playing for a while. I feel like when I win I don’t feel happy, I feel relief. And when I lose I feel very sad. And I don’t think that’s normal.'

It came months after withdrawing from the French Open that year, revealing that she has previously struggled with depression after her refusal to give post-match interviews had been criticized.

'I never wanted to be a distraction and I accept that my timing was not ideal and my message could have been clearer. More importantly, I would never trivialize mental health or use the term lightly,' she said.

'Anyone that knows me knows I'm introverted, and anyone that has seen me at the tournaments will notice that I'm often wearing headphones as that helps dull my social anxiety.

'Though the tennis press has always been kind to me (and I wanna apologize especially to all the cool journalists who I may have hurt), I am not a natural public speaker and get huge waves of anxiety before I speak to the world's media. 

'I get really nervous and find it stressful to always try to engage and give you the best answers I can.'
