Simon Gogerly talks about how spatial audio is becoming more standard in our day-to-day listening habits, and how producers and mix engineers are called on to understand psychoacoustic principles to build a 3D world of sound.

With a shift to the experience economy, the role of the sound designer and audio engineer has changed from working in acoustically predictable spaces to having to build entire sound systems in unusual and challenging acoustics. Talk by  Dr Lucy Ann Harrison.

Most of us mix in spare rooms at home and small spaces, where the acoustics fight us at every turn. James Nugent and Mark Ashfield of Present Day Production join Jesco Lohan of Acoustics Insider for a straight-talking look at why small rooms are so unforgiving — and the simple, affordable steps that genuinely fix them.

In trailer sound design, storytelling often lives in the space between tension and release: the breath before the hit, the pull into a transition, the movement that makes a cut feel inevitable. This session explores how cinematic trailer sounds can be built from both organic recordings and electronic sources, transforming gestures, objects, textures and synthesised elements into large-scale sonic moments. Talk by Dr Susanne Grunewald.
