With a string of Oberheim recreations under their belt, GForce have now partnered with Sequential to create an official Prophet-5 emulation.
In recent years, GForce Software have branched into official emulations of classic hardware synths, delivering a handful of Oberheim recreations that have been approved by Tom Oberheim himself. Their latest move sees them partner with Sequential to create a licensed software version of the much-loved Prophet-5.
The new arrival faithfully recreates three different revisions of the iconic synth, the Rev1, Rev2 and Rev3, capturing everything that made the original popular, and promising to deliver the most authentic-sounding Prophet emulation available. As well as bringing together three versions of the Prophet-5 and meticulously replicating the sound of the original hardware, the new plug-in also includes a full set of factory presets from 1978.
While the sound of the new instrument remains faithful to the original designs, GForce have taken the opportunity to introduce some new features that expand on what’s possible with the hardware versions. A newly redesigned X-Modifier system makes it possible to assign envelopes and LFOs to just about any parameter, while a dual-layer architecture offers Layer, Split and Alternate playing modes. There’s also support for MPE, two selectable effects slots (with Chorus, Phaser, Filter, Distortion, Tremolo and Compressor options) and dedicated Delay, Reverb and Pan Spread processors.
