An's Gelato opens shop at ‘Top Gun' House in Oceanside

Дата публикации: 28-07-2026 10:05:45

An’s Dry Cleaning finally opened up shop Saturday in Oceanside, inside the iconic “Top Gun” House.
The gelato shop, named best in the nation by USA Today in 2025, is known for having themed gelato shops across town, and this one is no different. The inside of the “Top Gun” house has been transformed to look like an airport terminal. It even has a fitting name: Gate D5.
The shop features an information desk, where the gelato is served, a lounge, airport seating and even some travel accessories.

The current flavors are:
Sambava, a vanilla gelato combined with cinnamon, salt, butter and chocolate honeycomb toffee.
The Charleston, a honey, butter and cornbread gelato.
The Ho Chi Minh, a banana and Vietnamese coffee gelato.
The McAllen, a grapefruit and strawberry vegan sorbet.
The Visalia, a pistachio and chocolate gelato.
The Vohemar, a vanilla and almond milk vegan gelato.
The Del Mar, a vanilla, cinnamon, caramel and cake gelato.
Keep in mind that An’s changes their menu every few weeks or so.

The “Top Gun” house, which you can recall was the beachfront home of Maverick’s (Tom Cruise) love interest, Charlie (Kelly McGillis), in the 1986 film, originally housed High Pie, but they closed the location early this year.

This is An’s fifth location in San Diego County.
An’s is known for naming its gelato shops after the building it occupies, such as An’s Dry Cleaning in North Park, An’s Electronic Repair in Ocean Beach, An’s Hatmakers in Del Mar and the An’s Athletic Field Services at Petco Park.

The bright-blue house was built as a vacation home in 1887 for Dr. Henry Graves.
It was moved from its original location in 2020 when a mid-rise beach resort took over the land it previously sat on. Instead of knocking down the historic home — which would have caused outrage amongst many San Diegans — the house was towed just up the street, where it became part of the Mission Pacific Hotel with a perfect view of the Pacific Ocean.
The exterior maintains a similar original blue color and its beachfront feel with a hanging swing on its front porch. Outside, you’ll find a refurbished Kawasaki Ninja ZX900 Motorcycle, which is– you guessed it — a replica of the one Tom Cruise rode in the 1986 film.
