Well, I don’t think an audiobook is the best way to go for this one. These little essays are really worth pondering, like scripture. Meditating on them, even. I will have to get another version and meditate upon it someday. Most of the advice here though is of the sort: “get over your complaints; life is short and you’ll soon die anyway.”

Felt a little too religious, ie. life not worth living without believing in God’s grace (though that’s kinda true; death sucks) but not really that bad.

A few thoughts that stood out:

• “When the thought of hurt is gone, the hurt is removed.” Many times it isn’t the action of another that hurts us, it’s our refusal to forgive and forget.
• Paraphrasing: if you are cheated by someone in your community, it makes little difference because your community still benefits. 
  • But what happens when the community has broken down, ie. a low-trust society?
