LONDON, September 29. /TASS/. The United States is hardly likely to restrict diesel fuel exports, Minister for Climate, Energy and the Environment, Minister for Transport of Ireland Darragh O'Brien said.

"From the information that I was able to glean in [Washington] DC last week, there doesn't seem to be a push to do that. <…> It doesn't look like that's something that will happen," he told reporters.

"I think there would be an impact for the United States themselves, diesel ban as well as the impact on other fuels," the minister added.

Brussels should not be complacent about it, he noted. "We're aware of the potential risk as well, and energy ministers intend in the October Council to have a large part of the agenda set aside to energy security and supply," O'Brien said.

US President Donald Trump said earlier that he was very seriously considering imposing a ban on the export of diesel fuel due to rising prices in the country.
