European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European leaders from Hungary, Belgium and Sweden have condemned drone attacks on two commercial vessels in Bulgaria’s exclusive economic zone in the Black Sea, expressing solidarity with Bulgaria and warning about the risks to civilian shipping and global food security.
Von der Leyen said on X that the situation in the Black Sea was becoming increasingly alarming after the vessels were struck.
